Yu-Gi-Oh Cross Duel got a lot of expectations when it first debuted.
It’s worth saying, Yu-Gi-Oh! The new Cross Duel debuted on September 6 last year and could not even celebrate its first birthday. According to Konami’s announcement, the project will be completely shut down on September 4. In addition, transactions related to the Payout – the currency in the game – will also be suspended for the rest of the game, starting from the moment of the announcement. Konami himself later apologized to the gamers, and promised compensation for the few players who invested in Yu-Gi-Oh! The Cross Duel.
But unfortunately, the game existed less than a year and had to announce that it ceased to operate.
Basically, the Yu-Gi-Oh! Cross Duel is a free-to-play game with no different mechanisms than Yu-Gi-Oh! and ordinary. But, according to gamers, there are many reasons why this game could not even last longer than 12 months. The most notable of these is Yu-Gi-Oh! Cross Duel appears to work on a “pay to win” mechanism, which encourages players to deposit cards, invest money to own cards, collect valuables, and offer immediate advantages in the game. Not to mention, not appearing on the PC platform is also a significant shortcoming of this project.
Of course, it’s Yu-Gi-Oh! The closing of Cross Duel has also brought a small disappointment for the majority of players. Nevertheless, Konami is likely to continue to release more excellent, more engaging titles, still with the theme of Yu-Gi-Oh! only in the future.
